Go On an Archaeological Excavation

an excavation site uncovering a teddy bear, trophy, journal and more

Excavating is the process of digging something out, of exposing or revealing. Just as archaeologists excavate remains to learn about the past, we can learn about ourselves by digging through the artifacts of our lives.

Choose an item that holds special meaning to you – it could be a piece of jewellery, a stuffed animal, a book, anything you want. Examine it, making note of how it looks, smells, sounds, feels, and why it is important to you. Write a poem about this object and what its possession reveals about you as an individual.
